The Real Thief: Surrender

The policemen were pounding the door, so hard, that debris were falling from the ceiling. It was almost as if there was a major earthquake pummeling through the city. With weapons donned, James and Brandon stood their ground. There was no place to hide.

Little did the duo realize that the policemen were covertly planning an attack through a secret panel they found outside the room the criminals were in.

CRASH!!!

Before the two knew anything, they were surrounded by armed guards and security. The head of FBI looked daggers at James and Brandon.

“We got you now. By the way, you remember good old BQ? We got him, too,” he rasped, following with the wave of a walky-takie.

James eyes drooped. He could not believe they captured BQ! On top of that, he and Brandon culd not escape now. They were trapped by all the offers in the whole state, maybe even the whole country! meanwhile, Brandon was trembling, his face turning pale, still unable to digest how swiftly they were surrounded by the sheer number of officers.

“So, Mr. Arnolds and Mr. Schwelzter, you are under arrest for violating the rules and regulations,” he paused, “ of being happy, obeying citizens.”

SIX MONTHS LATER

An FBI officer was passing the gates of the prison, devouring a glazed doughnut and hearing his footsteps crunch in the unkept grass. He casually strolled into the building and patrolled all the cells, making sure the prisoners were safe and sound. Yet, as he walked by one of the cells, he gaped, some sugary doughnut crumbs toppling to the floor from his mouth. There was not a sign of the prisoner that was supposed to be in it!

Yet, before he reported it, his eyes caught on something else: a sign written in chalk on one of the gray walls:

“Catch me if you can. Catch me if you can. Oh whoops, you can’t catch me because I am the gingerbread man!

With Love,

Brandon”
